Introduction
Greg began training in Yoshinkan Aikido in 1984 when a student at the University of Toronto, at the Hart House Dojo under T. Kimeda Sensei. Greg obtained his 4th kyu by August 1986. After moving from Toronto, he had a hiatus of 12 years, before resuming his training in Vancouver with Keith Taylor at Vancouver Japanese Language School (VJLS), now the Sokushinkan Dojo. Greg began at 8th kyu (white belt) and rose to 2nd kyu by July 2002. In 2003, Greg took a sabbatical from work and lived in Tokyo. During that year he trained extensively at Hombu Dojo and obtained his ikkyu (1st kyu), shodan (1st degree black belt), and level 6 instructor certificates allowing him to grade both inside and outside Japan. He returned to Vancouver in early 2004 and returned to VJLS dojo for training. He has participated in training in several dojos in Canada, the United States, Brazil, Japan, and Australia.
In addition to his regular training, Greg leads the childrens’ aikido classes for Sokushinkan Dojo, at the VJLS.
